Our Story
Early February 2021: Ithaca, NY is in the depths of wintery despair.
Up the hill: Lauren ventures outside with her friend, Liv, in a jacket big enough to double as a small shelter. Their destination? The cozy frat house of ZBT.
Down the hill: Josh begrudgingly enters his car and does what young fraternity members do best, drive cute sorority girls around campus on command of older fraternity members.
Josh quickly realizes that Lauren was more than worth the drive and he proceeds to smooth talk his way around to getting her phone number. Josh and Lauren spend the rest of the winter ice skating, walking on frozen lakes, watching movies, and falling in love. The following 3 and a half years are spent throughout Ithaca, San Francisco, and NYC doing similar activities.
Late September 2024: Ithaca, NY is flourishing in fall beauty. Lauren, Josh, and both sets of families are back in town (Josh's family is there unbeknownst to Lauren).
Down the hill: Josh frantically prepares the beautiful Stewart Park with Kim, Seth, Sophia, and Jonathon for the "big question". Josh had told Lauren he was catching up with a professor in the park (Josh is still shocked Lauren fell for that).
Up the hill: Lauren and her parents are driving from campus to Stewart Park to pick up Josh for dinner.
Josh gets down on one knee and asks Lauren the age old question of love: "will you marry me?"
August 1, 2026: We cannot wait to celebrate our love and our story with our friends and family on 8/1/26!
Travel and Hotel Information
We look forward to celebrating with you in beautiful Newport Coast, California! To fly in, John Wayne/ Santa Ana/ Orange County Airport is the closest 10 miles from The Resort at Pelican Hill. LAX/ Los Angeles International Airport will have more flight options and is ~48miles from The Resort at Pelican Hill.
Both the Welcome Party on Friday as well as our Wedding & Reception on Saturday will be at Pelican Hill. Please find information to book your stay at The Resort at Pelican Hill and other suggested hotels, there are many other options and Airbnb/VRBO options as well.
VEA Newport Beach
The Pendry Newport Beach
For guest ease and safety, Shuttles will be hosted from VEA and Pendry to Pelican Hill for the Welcome Party and Wedding Day and back. Please reserve a seat when you RSVP so we can plan properly.

Your hotel or stay selection is entirely up to you! Both the Welcome and Wedding are at Pelican Hill, it is very convenient to stay onsite. Our next suggestions are VEA and Pendry Newport Beach as we are providing shuttles both nights to the events for your ease and safety. No matter where you choose, we recommend staying close by and the good news is that ride shares are plentiful.
